I adore her voice, but - I'm sad to say - my mum was right, her musical timing's a bit out quite often xx
Yes, she can really throw you sometimes - I think it's because she really sings completely from her heart and soul and sometimes gets completely overtaken by the emotion of it all.
The band need to fine-tune their ears then, to keep up with her
Fuck! Sorry - didn't mean to be all critical on yer blog lol. I love her songs, really do. It p'd me off when my mum said that
Whoa! Don't vex! I'm not offended - it's a fair point and in any case everyone's entitled to their opinion!
If I won the lottery though I would pay her big money just to sing backing for her, even though I know it would be a nightmare as she rarely sings a song exactly the same way twice and sometimes doesn't even stick to the set list!
lol I'm so crap at saying stuff that might be disagreeable
*big wuss*
It was her voice, Cyndi Laupers and Kirsty's for ages. I've discovered a few more ace female singers recently through my Oz friend, FlickFlack but I can't remember their names.
(I ripped some singled from youtube!)
Who is she? She doesn't look familiar, though her voice sounds it.
Actually she looks a bit like Bonnie Raitt, who is a fantastic singer and guitarist.
Ah, I've just seen her name at the bottom of the video, Eddie Reader. I have to say I'm not that moved by her voice. I saw her on the Jools Holland show a while ago, even then, I didn't get why she was getting rave reviews.
Still, we all have our opinions. My all time fave is Ella Fitzgerald. Mmm now that's a voice to rave over...
I'm now a fan of Amy Winehouse as I love her voice too.
You have to see her live to really appreciate what she does. I had the pleasure of accompanying Sal to the Fleece & Firkin in Bristol to see Eddie. As soon as she (Eddie that is) started singing I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end - a completely magical evening!
(Mind you, Sal's a marvellous singer in her own right!
Woo hoo! It's Al!
How are you my babber? That was a great night wasn't it, they couldn't shut her up and she sang practically up until the lights went out!
I was telling Paul only last night about singing with you in Entropy and what great fun it was. If only a certain bass player hadn't been such an effin' misery, and if we'd found the right drummer, I think we could've gone on to do great things!
Ooh I do miss you.

I've been here all the time lass! I always look at your blogs when you write a new one, but it's not often that I have anything worth saying (I'm also an old fogey inasmuch that I feel uncomfortable at public expression of my feelings).
The big news here in Brizzle is that Rick and Rae have split up - or, to be more accurate, Rae has left Rick. She phoned me on Wednesday evening to tell me; apparently her feelings about him have changed until she can't live with him anymore, not that he's done anything wrong. I phoned Rick afterwards and he sounds absolutely shattered, poor old sod. I'm hoping to see him soon, but he didn't want me to come round when I spoke to him.
Ah well, c'est la vie - just as you get yourself sorted (and I wish you good luck with your new burgeoning relationship) another of my friends finds themself in the shit!
As to the old Entropy days - they certainly were good times, but I would add 'getting the occasional gig' to the list of things we needed - I really was rubbish at that side of things!
Keep your tractor on the land!

Ha ha, don't know about old fogey, more archetypal northern bloke
So sorry to hear about Rick and Rae, give him my love won't you. Last time I saw him I was reeling from the aftershock of my breakup and I might've got a bit tearful on him! Never thought it'd be them next. Hope this doesn't plunge him back into a deep depression again.
I know I always say this, but I really will try to pop in when I'm next dahn sarf.
